Ms Chin Wei Jia is the Group CEO of Health Management International Ltd (HMI). She also holds the concurrent position of Managing Director of HMI’s two hospitals located in Malaysia, namely Mahkota Medical Centre (Mahkota) in Malacca and Regency Specialist Hospital (Regency) in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor. In her current capacity, Ms Chin is responsible for the overall development of HMI’s healthcare and education businesses in the region, overseeing strategic planning, business development, operations, human resources and marketing. Ms Chin joined HMI in 2002 as a Management Trainee, and since then has played a key role in the development of HMI into a Singapore Stock Exchange Mainboard-listed company with regional presence in Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia. She was a member of the core team that commissioned Regency in 2008, and led the establishment of HMI’s Medisave-accredited patient service centre (that enables Singapore Residents to use their Medisave for hospitalisation and day surgeries overseas at HMI’s hospitals) in 2010. During her tenure as CEO of Regency from 2012 to early 2016, she led the hospital to become one of the fastest growing private hospitals in Malaysia. In addition, Ms Chin played a strategic role in the development of Mahkota into a multiple award winning tertiary hospital and recognised leader in medical tourism in Malaysia. She also contributed to the launch of HMI Institute of Health Sciences in 2002, and played a central role in its appointment as a Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) Continuing Education and Training Centre since 2009. In addition to being passionate about improving lives, Ms Chin also strongly believes in community engagement and contribution. She is a champion of the ‘HMI Cares’ campaign that actively organises health promotion, health education and healthy living programmes in the communities that HMI operate in. Ms Chin is a Member of the Malaysia Singapore Business Council (MSBC) Services Committee. She also regularly participates as a speaker or panelist in healthcare conferences and seminars in Malaysia, Singapore and the region. Ms Chin graduated from Johns Hopkins University, United States, with a Masters of Arts in International Relations. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Summa Cum Laude) with a double degree in Economics and International Relations from Boston University, United States.
