Graduated as a MD in 1981 at the Federal University of São Paulo. Completed the Residency program in Rheumatology at the same University (Escola Paulista de Medicina) in 1984. From 1985 to 1986 completed a MSc degree in Rheumatology at the same University. During 1987 and 1988, as apart of the International Clinical Epidemiology Program (funded by Rockefeller Foundation) completed a MSc Program in Design, Measurement and Evaluation at McMaster University (Canada). In 1990 completed a PhD in Rheumatology at Federal University of São Paulo (Escola Paulista e Medicina). From 1993 to 1995 completed a Post-doctoral training program in Health Economics at McMaster University (Canada). During this period acted as a Visiting Professor at the same University. In 1996 completed na MBA in Strategic Management of Companies at Escola Trevisan (São Paulo). Partner at Grupo Fleury since 1999. Up to 2016 has acted as a medical consultant, director of few areas Since 2004 has collaborated and acted (not continuously) as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fleury Group. Since 1990 is a Professor at the Department of Medicine at Escola Paulista de Medicina, Federal University of São Paulo. Currently is the head of the Division of Health Economics and Healthcare Management at the same University. Currently is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fleury Group (mandate from August 2015 to August 2017). Has published more than 150 manuscripts in international scientific journals indexed by PUBMED / Medline.
